Our Story

Manamea Art Gallery and Studio in Samoa was born of a love story between two artists. A clue is in our name.

Manamea is a Samoan word for your romantic interest and could be translated as sweetheart, beloved, darling.

We first met in 2012 and fell in love. Within 18 months, we left our jobs as educators, got married and set up a backyard art studio in the village of Avao Savaii. We decided to become full-time independent artists.

We had to move to a bigger premises a year later and take on another artist to help with the commissions.
Now ten years later we have a team of four full-time artists and one admin assistant. We now have an art gallery attached to our studio based now at Vaigaga in Upolu.
Our gallery is home to the contemporary Samoan sculptures and paintings we create. Our art gallery sells pieces all around the world.
For the first time, we are doing prints of paintings.
There are no giclee printing services in Samoa so a professional photographer comes to our gallery to take hi res images, and we send the files to a giclee printer in Australia to print and distribute.
